I just found out from my little sister that she has to have 75 hours of community service or they won't let her walk at her graduation next year. Has anyone ever heard of anything like that?

She's not exactly sure on all the details. All she knows, and said is "I need 75 hours of community service to walk next year." She doesn't know, but I asked if they will not allow her to walk if she does not have 75 hours of Comm. service, or if she still graduates and gets her diploma but just can't walk with her class in the ceremony. But she heard they will keep her diploma. Again, she hasn't found out for certain yet, that is just what she heard.

She's in Ocala Florida, if it matters.

No she didn't do ANYthing wrong. She's a good kid. The only thing that she could have done that would be considered "bad" is having crappy grades. That's it. She's one of the goody goody's.

She is gonna find out. Her dad is going to call and talk to the school tomorrow. I'm not sure, but I'm assuming she just found out today, maybe. Then again, she's kinda lazy, forgetful and puts stuff off so there's no telling in how long she's actually known.

I about chit when she told me, I thought that was the craziest thing I've ever heard. Crazier than her having to learn how to drive a tractor! <-- Now, THAT's crazy LMAO.

The graduation ceremony is too damn long, and boring as hell...
If they had banned me from the graduation walk, I would've kissed them where the sun don't shine...
I didn't even go to my college graduation ceremony...
Enduring a thousand names being called out?
Forget that...!
I had them send me my degree in the mail, and after my last final of my last semester, I walked out into the quad and threw an imaginary hat up in the air like Mary Tyler Moore, leaped up in the air and kicked my feet together and shouted...
"Woo Yaw!!!"

I have to do that too, 75 hours, but I've known for years and now need only one more hour.

For us, you don't get your diploma if you don't do the work.
