I've noticed this.

I didn't think The Cosby Show should have had the 2 mixed daughters. All those kids should have been black, just like Cliff and Claire. Interestingly enough, the grandparents were really light but they weren't biracial.

ETA: The George Lopez show has a very light-complected daughter. She is not much darker than your average dark-haired white girl. She is not even Mexican. I don't understand why they couldn't "find" a Mexican girl to play that role.

Well besides the show my wife and kids I've never seen a obviously mixed girl in a well apparently unmixed black family. But well in some movie on the disney channel that boy corbin bleu looks mixed and his dad is black and has a black sister.

You have a point there.

It's sexism. Once I read a dumb-yet-true (!) statement, in which a black man at a party said, "The light-skinned woman is the black man's blonde." This means that a light woman is seen as a prize, a trophy, wherease the darker woman is seen as a consolation prize, or even a booby prize.

Therefore, when they do the casting, they are more likely to put a light-skinned sister into "good" roles than to cast a dark-skinned sister.

BTW, I'm medium-light myself. I have relatives ranging from ebony to "passing".

Think of the current American Idol. We had one white boy with three black girls. I fully expected the white boy to go. Instead, the black girls are dropping off--starting with the darkest, then the second-darkest, and the lightest one is left!

Yes, I have seen that and it's the same in the commercials; the little girl always has a "mixed" look to her

i do no longer think of neither the mild or dark pores and skin woman on My spouse and teenagers made experience. the 1st woman is darker then the two Tisha Campbell and Keenan (it is Keenan genuine?) the 2nd woman seems biracial. nicely the 1st Vivian on the FPOB became pronounced to have been complicated to paintings with and he or she income a number of weight throughout her being pregnant it is why they replaced. The actress who performed the 1st Harriet i think of made a option to leave the teach. And the 2nd spouse did no longer look all that mild pores and skin she became a similar complexion as Laura.

Yes. The Cosby Show is a good example of this. I've always pondered that.

Ever noticed how REAL LIFE black people come in different shades and have different textures of hair? Light skin and wavy don't mean "mixed".
