I always used genuine ink refills and I also had this problem - I think it is the type of ink they use. Some use a water based ink that dries up.

About a year ago, I bought a Canon printer and the ink never dries up even after months of sitting unused.

For ink printers, I would usually recommend original ink, not even original refills. When you're using non-OEM ink cartridges, there is always a risk or getting one that is topped up with bad quality ink that will fade after printing.

This might just be that the cartridge wasn't stored at a cool dry place. Or you just print once and just lay the printer sitting on the desk for a long time without using. The print head might be stuck with dried ink.

2 ways to solve if the cartridge print head is stuck. Run the program that may come with your printer to clean it. Or hold your print head over a steam for ard 10 secs then gently wipe the residue away.

I'm a manufacturer of compatible toner cartridge in Singapore. Any orders in Singapore can just drop me a mail me at william@dotstechnology.com.

Use name brand style inks. For your Lexmark, use Lexmark ink. It may cost a few extra bucks for name brand ink, but it does last a little longer, and its worth it in the long run.

The print head clogs if you don't use it. Run a print head cleaning once per month and you will be able to void the problem
