I had a vaginal delivery and everything was normal but, I did bleed for about 7 weeks after the birth. I am breast feeding the baby. I am sexually active with my husband but, we use protection and when we haven't, we have been carefull. Why have I yet to have a cycle? Is it normal? When can I expect to get one? I don't feel pregnant and it has been 4 months so, I would think I would show signs of being pregnant if I was. Should I take a test??

Take a test to be sure. My cousin was breastfeeding and became pregnant 3 months after her son was born.. She missed her period and just figured it was from the breastfeeding. After a couple of months passed and she still did not recieve it she decided to go to the doctor and see what was wrong.. She was 3 months pregnant... She didnt feel pregnant and had no signs of it other then the missed period.. Best of Luck.....

take the test to be sure because you may be pregnant just not too far along.you must always use protection every time and you know that,it only takes once to get pregnant and after having a baby you are much more likely to get pregnant again.if you are not you are lucky.while you breastfeed you may not have a menstual cycle but you can still get pregnant- i did.there is 11 months between my last 2 babies so i know it can happen.please if you dont want another baby right away stop breast feeding and get on the pill.good luck.

It is normal for your periods to be delayed while breastfeeding. Keep being careful with your husband though...your fertility will return when you ovulate approximately two weeks before your first period comes back, so you never know exactly when you're going to be fertile again...the period comes AFTER the first chance of getting pregnant, not before. Enjoy the lack of tampons while you can!

You may want to take a test, but also look into more info on Breastfeeding as a natural form of birth control. Some people swear by it and it may be what is keeping you from beginning your cycle again.
