I recently installed PCLinuxOS .93 Big Daddy and tried to configure a wireless connection through a NetGear MA521. The OS detects the card, but when I try to configure the network, the system tries to install "packages". It says something like "PCLinuxOS needs to install the caching-nameserver package and is looking in the repository", but it never finds the package. Google didn't help. Any body else have this problem and how did you fix it.

By the way, the wireless card worked fine on windows, but I no longer have windows, so a dual boot is not an option.

A repository is what holds packages. These packages could be programs, they could be files that support whatever it is you're trying to do (dependencies). If it's not finding it, it's because it isn't there. You need ndiswrapper, it helps with modems that are normally made for Windows. Try checking out the site Linuxquestions.org. There are tons of knowledgeable people on Linux that will be more than happy to help you out more than I could.

Brandon

I haven't used that release but I would bet if you check the PCLinux forums you will find you are not the only person with the question.

Just search that forum for "configure wireless"

You will certainly get a better answer from USERS of that system.
