I read a book that said that they can get them in the womb. When I had a sonogram at about 28 weeks, my baby was already grabbing at his penis.

As adults, we associate erections with sexuality. In babies and little boys who have not reached puberty, any erection is strictly a reaction to stimulation and has nothing to do with sex. Newborn boys can begin getting erections shortly after birth. It is especially common during bath time or cleaning the diaper area. Some baby boys are more sensitive than others and have more frequent erections, some only have them occasionally. Either way is normal.

My baby boy is 4 months and he first had one when he was one week old. At first I couldn't believe it but, it is normal and friends said their son's were the same way. It can start as soon as they are born.
