(like Dakota, Denver, Kansas, Michigan) What state or city name do you like best and is it for boy or girl just wondering

I think if this is your choice the name should have a story behind it, like we were vacationing in Paris when you were conceived, or Montana is our favorite state, or Dallas is a center of prosperity, just something so the child knows it was a meaningful choice.

We gave a child a middle name that is geographic and I'm so glad we have a great story to go with it because the child doesn't like the name, but loves the story, so accepts it.

I like the name Brooklyn (not the city just the name) because it comes my last and middle name, and I like Savannah. Dakota is a cute boy name, as well as Denver. The name I hate, is Georgia, that's where I'm from but it doesn't make a good name.

I like Aurora, Dakota, Georgia, Austin. For some reason Kansas sounds weird as a person's name and do does Michigan.

I like Chelsea, after the London suburb.
Indianna is pretty for a girl, as is India. I've only ever known of one girl called India.
Jordan and Amman are both beautiful names.
I use to like Paris until a famous Hilton ruined the reputation of the name Paris forever.
Sydney is lovely city and nice catchy name for male or female.
Darwin would be quite nice for a man, after the city of Darwin (which was named after charles darwin), but I always think of Endorra in the TV show Bewitched calling her son in law Darwin when his name was Darrin.
The American states in particular make nice names for girls - Montana, Georgia, Louisianna.
I think if you can name your son or daughter after the place where the parents met is nice, (or in the case of Brooklyn the son of the Beckhams named after the city he was concieved in.) So lets pray I meet my husband in Denver, Jordan, Cairo or Chelsea and not Kajikstan, Brazil or Greece.

I think its great that you are thinking of a unique name, I just love names after states. Maybe not Tennessee WIlliams. but heres a few I like:

Carolina Rose
Augusta
Amarilla
Virginia
Cheyenne ? kinda overused

I used to like Dakota, but its overused today.
try season too, I have a Summer Lynn. Or weather patterns
I love Stormy for a girl and Storm for a boy. Rainy is cute, or River. The other day this man was holding a beautiful little newborn baby girl, when I ask her name he said he named her "Ocean" I just thought wow. There is a girl in my sons school named September, and May is very pretty. Many choices out there, have fun. hope I helped.

I think that it is cute most of the times because alot of cities are named after common things found in the town, however some people do go too far with it.

Names that come to mind:::

Holly
Madison
Savannah
Dakota
Charolette
Carolina
Georgia
Florence
Sheridan
Maryland
Paris
Colin
Lakeland
Ann
Jackson
Helena
Helen
Spring
Brooke
Stewart
Carson
Cameron
Hope
Clifton

The list goes on.........Most of the common names ARE names of cities in the US or a reversion of it. So, I think it is pretty cool, overall.

Brooklyn for a girl, I also like Dakota for a girl. Haven't really thought about one for a boy.

Dakota is a really pretty girls name, but it could also be a boys name. Austin is a really nice boys name as well. Those are my two favorites! :)
