Like everyone else has said, Mozart is basically the definition of musical genius / prodigy. Even though he lived for only 35 years, he composed 626 works, including 41 symphonies, 23 operas, and 46 concertos.

The fact that he could hear all of these in his head before he wrote them down... and then was able to write them down perfectly, needing no corrections... was amazing, a rare and incredible gift.

Beethoven and Bach are a couple of the only composers in history who could match Mozart in musical genius, though neither of them had the gift Mozart did.

Why is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart considered as the greatest musical genius of all time?

Mozart was a genius, but Beethoven in some peoples' minds is the one that the greatest. I love them both. Mozart could hear music one time and for just a few seconds and remember it for a long time. He didn't have to write music down because it was in his head. When he wrote it down for the publishers or the performers, he didn't have any corrections on the papers and he always made originals only, no copies. He didn't need to make copies because the music was in his head before he wrote it down.

I think a pretty strong argument can be made against Mozart as the greatest musical genius of all time. Beethoven and Bach were huge geniuses as well. I would argue that either of them were greater composers than Mozart. This really gets into a an argument a semantics about the definition of musical genius.

I think you can safely say that Mozart is the greatest child prodigy that we know of. I also find the way it seems he wrote music (composing entirely in his head and then writing it down) truly amazing.

well... i think most people would agree johann sebastian bach was the greatest composer of all time because he was the first and way ahead of his time and his works are incredable but yes, mozart to some is the best because he made just so many great compositions and was still very ahead of his time

I like Bach best but Mozart was truely a genuis. He could listen to any song and play it note for note after listening to it once! He composed at age 3 and performed at age 4! He composed his first symphony at age 9!!!!!!!! that is truely impressive!

Well, there are many reasons but let me give you the easiest one to understand.

How many 3 year olds sit at a keyboard and compose a 3 part Sonata? Or, how many 6 year olds sit at a table and write a full score symphony?

There are other reasons like the depth of his compositions or his ability to compose works within his head. He could not write them down fast enough. It sometimes drove him mad.
