Click Start, then Run. Type dxdiag, ok. At lower portion of screen, look at DirectX Version to see if you really have DX9.0c. Sometimes it does not install properly or at all (esp. on Win XP beta).
Try removing the old version before you reinstall.

attempt shifting it to the inspiration of the inspiration of the force C: and replace attempt executing it from a DOS instantaneous or attempt working it in homestead windows ninety 5/ninety 8 compatibility mode. suited click circulate right down to properties. The far suited tab is compatibility. verify the right container. and choose homestead windows ninety 8 first. click ok. If the game then does not show an blunders message or complains approximately colours or selection you will see 2 packing containers on the backside verify the right one if it says something approximately colours and the backside if it says something approximately selection. "it particularly is an older game" so which you do no longer choose any new hardware. it particularly is a application concern. i can declare that with fact.

You can go to ATI's website and download drivers off of there. It sounds like your computer just might not be powerful enough to run WoW. Its a pretty demanding game.
