I heard Oprah makes $600,000 a day.?

Anybody else heard that? If so that is way too much money for one person. Most people won't even see that in their lifetime!

OK. So what? She has well established herself the queen of daytime talk. She, herself came from an impoverished life. So she has earned it. Oprah puts her money and time to help people and children in need of homes and education. She is the standard for which all other celebrities should strive to achieve.

Oprah uses a good chunk of her $$ to build schools, send kids to college, help people in need all over the world and to run a charity foundation out of her own pocket so that every penny donated goes straight to those in need. And that charity gave new houses to over 50 families after Katrina. So I would rather have someone like that making 600,000 a day than Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan. What wil they spend it on?

She is not the only one who makes that kind of money. She is BY FAR NOT the richest woman in America. Tom Cruise, Speilberg make plenty more than she does Why pick on Oprah? She is not even amongst the richest 400 people in America according to Forbes. Why not talk about some of those people too?

Actually most people will see that in a lifetime.

What you need to realize is first the lawyers and accountants and publicists and management and staff take their cuts and then comes the tazes for her and for them and their taxes go back to her but her taxes are larger than their taxes and then there are her living expenses and security and before you know it that 600,000 dollars just pays the bills because you are not paying just Oprah but everyone who works for Oprah as well. Money is an illusion like fame and power. Once you stand still the illusion tends to disappear.

I'm pretty sure that's accurate; she is loaded with money that she cannot possible spend in a lifetime. To her credit, she sinks a lot of cash into schools and hospitals... but why not here in the USA? Same thing as A. Jolie. One third of her income is spent on her charities... but why aren't they in her home country that made her so rich?

By the way, Roger Clemens ( Yankees pitcher) makes about one million a week. And he only pitches every five or six games until the season is over.

yep, but I think she deserves more. That is not enough for one person, she is not selfish and needs that money to survive. But she has to spend 2 1/2 hours in a makeup chair, report to her company like a puppet, and she has the stress of keeping a network alive. If that is what she gets paid, I guess she does the job better than any one else in the world. I think she should get paid $1,000,000 - just a rounded number and easier to keep track of.

if someone is willing to throw that much money at you, how can you refuse? if she demands that much compensation, then whomever is paying that much is pretty foolish. nonetheless, if that figure is accurate, and it's being done, what can you do? at least she is philanthropic and throws some of it to good causes. some hoarders just scam all they can and want more. look at these rappers that have their own clothing lines and stuff. i don't see them throwing money back to their roots.
