it is possible to make Big Bucks in Real Estate, however, don't quit your "day job" just yet. Try working part time with a real estate agent to see how you like the business first.
Ultimately you will need to take courses & pay for licensing & other expenses to really be a real estate agent.
Real Estate is a Commission only business, so if you're not producing you're not making anything.
Don't leave your current job, just yet.

Ok the key word there is potential, the potential is there to become a top seller. You should know that being a real estate sales person/broker is a commission only business. If you are a sales person, you will most likely split any commission with the broker who's office you work from. You should also know that there are expenses related to advertising etc. this is different for each broker (when I say broker I mean C-21, Caldwell Banker etc.).
After you have educated yourself on the opportunity, and you inventory your own skills and come out on the other side knowing that this is what you want to do, I suggest this:
If you are living from pay check to pay check, cut expenses where you can.
Start part time
Educate yourself every step of the way.
There are sales agents that make six figures, so it is possible. The very most important thing to remember is that this venture is more a business, not a job, you will be responsible for your own taxes etc.
Count the cost and I wish you the very best.

Every straight commission sales position (of any kind) has the potential for big bucks. In San Antonio, Texas there are about 8,000 licensed Realtors. About 300 to 500 of us are making a living at it.

the key is potential now remember most real estate agents are independent contractors so you do not get paid until you sell something or find a buyer for a place, mean while you have dues to pay, advertising to get your name out, so allot of out of pocket expenses to start and unless you already have some leads no monies coming in

All real estate companies say that. More agents they have, more potential for them. It cost nothing for them to hire agents as agents get paid by commission. Only $55k a year? U must be flipping burgers at Mcdonalds. lol.
