Formal charge can be calculated in the following manner:

So, for the structure on the left, the formal charge is:

S(left) = 6 - 2 - 2 = +2
C = 4 - 4 - 0 = 0
S(right) - 6 - 2 - 4 = 0

This structure, and the other one shown both give the lowest formal charge and are therefore the best choices.
