I don't know about many gifted people, but I've seen that in one person, and quite the opposite in another. The second one seemed so normal, you'd never know they were different untill you inadvertently started a conversation on an intelligent level by asking a possibly insulting question about the workings of a non-traditional flashlight. But then again, I only made contact with them for 5 or so days on a casual level.

thats what they say to make people who functioning but who are retarded emotionally and intellectually feel better. i dont think its true. notice how the only people who buy into this theory are self-proclaimed genuises. smart is anything that is useful. if youre not connecting or useful to the society what good is this "gift". its not a gift at all, its a burden. a gift is something positive, not some jackass sitting on their highhorse about their zero accomplishments except thinking theyre so great. anyway jmo. have a good day sir.

Yes, it is true about what you stated! People who are Savants are in a whole different world. I'm a psychic & see this all the time. Their minds are way ahead of the normal(?) world. The basic reason that they can't cope is that their world & ours collide. it's like a parallel -universe, they co-exist but don't interact with each other.( This was only an example.).

God that's exactly how i feel, people never understand what im saying or misunderstand me for something else...

I recently discover that i have asperger's syndrome by accident, appears to be im so superficially smart with very extensive thought patterns that i lack with virtually everything else (eg: speech, emotions, humor..etc)

so yea form my personal experience its quite true

I don't feel alienated, and I don't withdrewal on purpose, I love people I can get along with almost anyone and I consider myself gifted, everything else you said is true of most gifted people though.

How are you defining gifted?

That statement could be true about some gifted people but not all gifted people.

I do think this is true. Some people are so smart that they have very few people to relate to.
