I am currently attending school to become a massage therapist, but I am not sure if I really want to do it? I like it, but I am not that into it. Should I tough it out or drop out? Does anybody have any advice for me?

I should have prefaced the question by saying that I have a full time job and just started the mt program to have something to fall back on if I get tired of my 'career'. I am currently only in the 1st month of the program so I am not very far into it yet.

Hey I just graduate from the Swedish Institute in New York City and the 1st semester is the hardest and you don't know if you made the right decision and it's took hard and yo will second guess yourself a lot. But I see that you are work so why don't you try going part-time and see if that changes anything. It takes a strong person to go to massage therapy school so don't give up on yourself and no matter your decision it will be right for you. Hope this helps.

I think massage therapy is a great field. But honey, you gotta choose your bliss. If you are not that into it, finish up school if you are a ways in & get your liscense. Massage is a wonderful thing to do on the side and out of your home if you create a serene spot. But absolutely choose a path you are passionate about, happiness, contacts, and money will naturally come if you love what you wake up to each morning! Best of luck on your life's path.

Typically, a massage course will include modules in anatomy and physiology as they are related to massage therapy. Universal precautions for the health and safety of the practitioner and the client are part of every massage program. In addition, massage students also have to study the ethics of behavior, which deals with how to interact professionally while adhering to a strict code of values and conduct.

During the course of study, aspiring massage therapists also learn clinical documentation as it pertains to the profession, and how to make professional assessments that allow them to provide the best service for their clients. The profession of massage recognizes the growth in its industry and sets standards and qualifications, which are recognized in this examination process.

If you're not that into it...i would drop it. To be successful at this job.......it really has to be your passion. Because it's alot of upkeep to stay certified and licensed..etc...etc. Continuing education classes and so on. There are so many therapists out there that just do it b/c it's great money. It's not the right attitude.

depends on how far into it you are. if you are more than half way thru, it makes no sense to quit now. finish get your licence and if you decide you don't want to do it, find another thing to do. At least you will have a job until you do find something you like better.
