In class last night it was a usual-People sneeze here and there through the night, and politely others say "bless you." sometimes its amazing how many say something.

BUT when some sneezer will not let it out and resort to those litte silent held in (kchn's!!) You know those ones lol..with that litle noise!

What is the proper thing to say? It throughs me off as I dont consider it a full sneeze and they are kind of hiding it?

How is is best to react? Especially if they are right next to you?

this girl i work with does that. that's just how she sneezes. i used to wonder what to say like bless you, we would laugh about it and now i just wait for her fo finish sneezing. she'll sneeze about 25 to 30 times. it's really cute though.

Personally I like the relief of a full blown sneeze myself, but some people hold back for different reasons ( things flying out, or all the heads turning in their direction) The polite thing to do is to say God Bless You!

Still I would say God Bless You or a simple Bless you. My favorite is still Gazontite (spelling?), from German origins.
Since stifling a sneeze is more dangerous than letting one out, you can rupture a blood vessel, a response is still in order and proper.

Just say bless you either way. Some people just sneeze certain way. Its always pleasant to say bless you..
With all these questions about this you are making me sneeze.

I don't say anything when someone sneezes - I'm not superstitious.

However, if they sneeze several times in a row, I say "Stop That!"
