when you write a book and charge for it,are you getting money for your thoughts?

Yes. That is the meaning of "intellectual property" and why royalties are paid on writings, music performances, films, etc.

Only if your thoughts are original. Otherwise you are getting money for thoughts of others or thoughts of many. You could say in that case, you're gettin money for expressing those thoughts (hopefully in a unique, entertaining manner).

How much truly original thought is out there? Probably not much.

That is the capitalization of knowledge.

Knowledge should be free. Knowledge should not be limited to one's ability to pay. And if that is the case, if you need my help be prepared to pay the price -- my knowledge will come at a hefty cost.
