We have 3 branches of government and it works well.

3 different parties with equal power and votes should work even better than 2.

It won't work because the two losing parties will always be better off joining together to beat the third. That's why we have always had two parties, and always will.

It is not in the interests of government to give people a choice. It is in the interests of government to have a one party system masquerading as a choice. Because it is not in the interests of government and those who control the government it will not happen unless it is accompanied by revolution.
