Check this site and see if your bug resembles the one pictured. If so, it is a golden tortoise beetle. They aren't really a pest unless you are growing sweet potatoes.

Yes I have several in fact. Ladybugs, also called lady or ladybird beetles, come in a large number of different species, colors, and sizes. Members of the large family Coccinellidae, they are all shiny, rather small, sort of round, and have short legs. Some have more spots than others, some have no spots at all, and the colors range from yellow to deep red to black Check out the link.. Remember those little cute "lady bugs" can and do bite. Ive been bitten a few times in my life which is why I will NOT allow them on my 2 kids

Hi
I saw a white with gold spots, ladybug several years ago. I tried to catch it but it flew away. I think it was a mutant ladybug. It was very pretty and not the gold & clear beetle that most people are posting. I was living in rural Kansas and there were fallow fields, standing trees and farming near by, If that helps.

It is not a Lady Beetle, nor a Cucumber Beetle. I cannot remember the name, but I am pretty sure it is a detrimental insect. I know it was eating my Morning Glories last year. It is so beautiful and fascinating, I never could get up the nerve to squash it. Looks like a piece of jewelry !

That is no lady! It's a cucumber beetle, and they are pests. It's likely that someone close to you has cucumbers or squash or some kind of melons planted, and this bug it out to eat them. Smush him.

Could it be a Japanese beetle? If it is, kill it!! They are very bad bugs. Maybe you should also contact your local agricultural office.
