The signal levels etc. are fine but i am not hearing the direct playback. What's wrong?
help!!!!

Are you hearing audio from different applications? First I would test other applications to hear if you have sound in them. Open something like Windows Media Player. Try listening from there.
If this works we know it's not the hardware. Go into Control Panel, under Sounds and Audio Devices, Click the Audio Tab, under Sound Playback ensure that you have the proper sound card selected.
Go into Cubase and under audio devices ensure you have the proper sound card selected under playback.
If this fails check you BUS settings in Cubase. You may be outputting your tracks/channels to a bus other than the Main Output.
