From what i've heard AVG Antivirus is the best free one. You can get it from filehippo.com. that site has plently of other applications that are free and useful.

Avast is a good one, the dos scan when restarting is one of the best way to remove virus from my experience.

the top free ones I've tried are AVG and Avast !and they work very good cleans and detects viruses intruding your computer
