Maybe it's because I'm a vet, and understand the reality of fighting terror on our soil vs theirs. Does the so called majority forget that the terrroist struck first? And more than once. We took about 15 shots to the jaw before we fought back, and now we want to bail out. We are fighting the terrorist who want to kill us. They wanted to, tried to, and did kill us LONG before we fought back Why can't we understand that? There have been anti war rallies in every conflict. Don't forget 97% of congress voted to go to war, based on the information that was provided, by both Democrat and Republican secret service members. Pointing fingers is easy and Hind sight is 20/20. Every political person, Dem and Rep alike who now want to cry about it, are cowards. At least the ones who still stand for what they believe in spite of the media bias, have balls enough to do so. I don't want a leader who crumbles to the desire of the weak in tough times. Don't cry about war then complain of no protection!

Unfortunately modern generations tend to be a me me me generation. As a veteran who served 12 years in the US Army and having injuries that have disabled me for life as a result of that service, I see nothing but a bunch of cry babies who only care about things that affect only them. During preparation for Desert Shield, later Desert Storm, I heard alot of younger generation soldiers saying, "I didn't come in to fight a war, I came in for the college benefits." Well you pack of cry babies are a disgrace to the soldiers who have lost their lives or limbs in Iraq, this includes parents and siblings who whine. Your kid joined the military of his own free will knowing that its a job that can cost you your life or limb. He or she was proud to serve, yet you tarnish his or her's image by protesting what it is they do. If my parents or siblings had protested in that manner I would have punched them right in the kisser. Americans have become soft and weak without the edge that those who came before had. Look at all the overweight people walking around because they live a hedonistic life with no discipline. Your average american wants everything done for them at no cost to them, but freedom and security isn't free and you cant buy it in a supermarket. Sometimes it costs blood, sweat and tears.

I too am a vet and we, more than anyone else, know that the cost of freedom is not free. From the first drop of blood spilled by a colonist in 1776 to today, Americans have fought for our freedoms. This nation has gotten too complacent and until they see more and more of their freedoms vanish, or until like Israel, have suicide bombings and people getting murdered at the store, malls, parks and such, they wont wake up.

Look how many are gullible and believe 911 was a US setup and that Bush knew all about it. They forget the 3000 people who died when we were slapped in the face for the millionth time. We have had over 3000 attacks against us and always turned the other check and when we fight back, we get a yellow strip down our backs.

I sometimes wonder if 15 or 20 thousand being murdered would have kept 911 in our minds??? Most people with common sense know that 30-45 Min's later, could have made a major difference in the number murdered by terrorists.

We must stand strong, spill their blood on their soil and not ours.

If CNN had been around during WWII, the nazi party would still be in power. That being said, americans have forgotten the reality of war....people die, those in uniform and unforutnately those not. War is never a pretty sight, but sometimes it is a neccessary one. I much prefer that we fight them on thier soil and not in my back yard. But if we leave Iraq before the job is done, that is exactly what we will be doing. Part of the problem in Iraq now is that the military are not police. They are trained to kill and to completely destroy thier objective. If they had been allowed to do what they are trained for, Iraq would not be the problem that it is now. Politicians need to let the military do thier job.

No. And, I think it's sad that those of us not young or fit enough to actually be 'boots on the ground' have been asked to sacrifice nothing in the current conflict. Sure, everyone's paying higher gas prices, but that's not a sacrifice, just an inconvenience. Why aren't there war bonds? Drives to help the troops? Something concrete we can volunteer to do, even if we won't be accepted if we volunteer to fight?

I don't like to be lied to. And I am an American, disabled for 33 year's now from another war. One George W. Bush should have gone in-country to and been willing to fight. I don't forget they hit us first. But argue all you want, the fact's are this. The real war is in Afastigian. That is where what hit us from 9/11 came from. That is where Osama Bin Ladin is. That is where we will kill him. If we have a lick of sense we will kill him. Throw what is left in an unmarked grave. If we don't, take him out from the site. ID him from DNA and photograph him. Then cremate him and scatter his ashes to the wind. The bastard has done nothing for the world in a positive way and should go out of it in no positive way.

I'm sorry you are so uninformed..it feels awkward when a serviceman says such stupid things.....

"The terrorists struck first"

Sir, you need an education

If military service is a sign of patriotism

so is being an educated person who can't be duped into destroying our country from the inside out

You are reciting 3rd grade level right wing propaganda

The "terrorists" (I'm assuming you mean their terrorists, not ours) have endured American soldiers living on Muslim holy land, the Palestinians being driven from their land and or murdered by western financed Israel....having the west set up dictatorships throughout the Middle East (for example -we put Saddam Hussein in charge in Iraq...our CIA did) that oppress their own people and allow multinational corporations to enrich themselves on their natural resources while the people living on top of the oil exist in 3rd world conditions.

If another country tried to do any of these things to the United States of America we would nuke them

but "they struck first"

It's great that you care enough about the country to serve. Now how about educating yourself so that your service is not diminished by leadership that does not share your real sense of patriotism. While you're willing to die for your country, the Bush Crime Family is willing to let you die for their friend’s profit margins.

If The Bush Crime Family were patriotic (they aren't) our soldiers would never serve as a private mercenary force for big oil.

Your commitment is worthy of an honorable government.......but now you're a German soldier following orders, being patriotic, to a country led by madmen

If we just followed orders blindly, in the name of patriotism, we’d still be an English colony

Sacrifice is what it takes to maintain the level of freedom that Americans are accustomed to having. I'm a vet also & believe that it's worth the fight to keep terror at bay! This next presidential election doesn't look too promising as far as someone who is strong & willing to stand up to the enemy. I'm still looking for a worthy candidate!

Its a political ploy by democrats. War is always unpopular because people die. Americans have been spineless since WWII. Any war that means Americans die isn't worth fighting. They don't want to understand that we don't live in a world that believes in peace and love, this is reality where war has to happen.

Libs' SOLE motivation is to gain political power, EVERYTHING they do revolves around that - their opposition to the war isn't motivated by anything other than a desire to put a lib in the White House next year.
