Apparently, according to my Dad, I just loved Chicken Licken when I was two or three years old..

When I could read for myself I devoured books (a bit like now. I finished one over night and am already onto chapter two of another book). I don't know how many times I read the Mallory Towers and St. Claire's series of books by Enid Blyton. I loved them.

When I was six (almost seven) I got a book of Roman and Greek mythologies and thought it was fantastic - I still have that book, that's how I know how old I am because a few years later (ten by the look of the handwriting), I wrote my name and age I was when I got it in. My favourite was always Pandora's Box.

My parents also got me the Janet and John books but I thought they were a bit babyish, all that 'Janet throws the ball, John runs for the ball, see John run.' stuff.

I have a book I got on my tenth Christmas too. The Sword Of General FRAPP. About a great general's son who dreamed about joining in the army and serving under Naopleon but they could never gind a job he was good at, he was just a short man with a very long name - which is why when you got to FRAPP, you were running out of breath and had to shout the last word to get it out.

Anyway, he eventually became the great man's personal chef and would carve the roast with his sword.

I also loved the Pick of Punch annuals, Time/Life books and as I got older, Star Trek novels (funnily enough, that's what I started this monring - it wasn't last night, it was 4.15 this morning.

I wasn't in a talkative mood, my colleagues noticed too. If you can imagine it, I tend to be a little on the verbose side.

I wasn't read bedtime stories, I wasn't a child who got into the "magical fairytale" stories right before bedtime. I got up in the morning ate, played (not with barbie dolls because my family and I hate those) my parents took me somewhere fun for the day got home went to bed got a kiss and went to sleep
I don't think I will read stories to my kids because I think ''fairtales'' are like witch craft with faires and magic and all that.

I don't remember what I was read as a child. But, I love reading the following books to my 5 year old:

Pumpkin Soup
The very hungry caterpillar
Guess how much I love you
The tiger who came to tea

In fact 2 of those were around when I was a kid, so it just goes to show that a great story truly is timeless...
