I'm currently staying in a hotel and cant seem to get their wireless internet to work. I pretty sure its not my computer because i can drive up to panera and steal their signal. My computer says it connected to the hotel but nothing will load on the browser. The people at the front desk say that the computers they are using with wireless are working. Any ideas on what i can try?

Maybe your computer is assigning it's own IP address. When mine does that, it says it's connected to the network but I can't get on the Internet.

Most hotels these days use an automatic "redirect" in order to allow you to enter the username and password for the system. If your browser does not auto redirect because of security settings then all you get is a BLANK PAGE with no errors and no messages.

Try refreshing using the refresh button -- may take several tries--- try clicking the "Home" button after the blank page loads.. if all that fails reset internet security to the default settings (medium should work fine) and close and reopen the browser).

Why do I say this... been there several times.. I switched to firefox browser and it all worked right! I blame IE and if its IE7 it is even harder to get these to work (not for all the worlds evils just for the aggravations it can generate.)

It is probable WEP encrypted,
That means a password is needed.
If not that , they might be using a WiFi that you are not compatable with , there are several flavors of WiFi , and if your System and theirs are not speaking the same langauge so to speak , it wont work.
