I've researched these frogs and other like it for quite some time now. and I own one myself. I feed it frog and tadpole bites. I buy them from petsmart. Only cost about $4 and it last many months because you feed it so little.
Also just incase you want to put another frog in it's tank, you may want to give it time to adjust by using a breeder net or something like that because dwarf frogs tend to eat any other creatures you add to the tank. Including fish if they are small enough. And it is more likely to eat another frog that is smaller then itself so adding another one that is about the same size is best.
Good Luck with your new pet. Hope this helps.---------------------------------------
I'd like to add somethings that are very important to keep your frog alive.... Incase the walmart people didn't mention this to you. It is extremely important NOT to put this frog in tap water, because water from your sink have bacteria that will kill your frog. Especially if it's well water. You have to use bottled natural spring water, not distilled water or purified water. And never clean your frog tank with soap or any cleaners, just use warm water to rinse it good. These frogs absorb everthing through there skin so you don't want to kill it by absorbing soap or a cleanser also they CANNOT eat fish flakes even though a lot of people believe otherwise, because they cannot digest them properly and it will eventually build up so much in thier stomach that thier stomach actually burst leading to the death of your poor froggy.....
By the way...I also own an African Clawed frog and they are illegal to own in some states, so you may want to make sure that's not what you were sold because you did get it at a walmart not a real certified petshop and these frogs look extremely similar..... If I think of anything else important, I'll let you know.

frogs can go with out salt as i have had mine for 3 years now the reason why he might have died is because frogs like frozen or fresh bloodworms not just flakes as frogs are bottom dwellers and when fresh or frozen bloodworms seperates they fall to the bottom where the frogs can feed from which they like the only time frogs come to the surface is to get a gasp of air otherwise they stay to the bottom of the tank without fail honestly hope this helps u out and please do get some more as these are lovely frogs but just next time you go away get a family member or friend to come round and feed your fish and frogs, bloodworms/frozen/live/flakes etc

We fed ours fish flakes and mosquitoes. We had to do the catching. Various tiny dead insects. Sadly our frog jumped out of the tank and died trying to get to my sons bed. He dried up and looked like beef jerky. It was sad cause my son was crying so hard. But I like frogs.

Why did you buy an animal but know nothing about it? Not even knowing what it eats is a big thing too. Check this site out to find out what they eat plus many other things you should know about, http://allaboutfrogs.org/info/mypets/dwarfs.html

they are scavengers they will eat anything...fish flakes are good but its best if they are in with another fish so it can eat their poop.
why would you get it from walmart??? come on i own a pet store and you are killing me. next time go to a pet store and they will actually tell you how to care for the pet you buy from them because they CARE. imagine that....
