First of all, have self confidence... It will get you along way, not only improving what other think of you, but if you think you can do something, then you can. Beyond that, because you are still in middle school, you have alot of time to learn the gymnastics part of cheer.

The next thing you could do is try to attend a cheer compitition. Watch the girls and their teams. If it looks like something you want to do then go for it.

Look online for a local Gymnastics Club and see in they offer Cheer classes. At my gym the cheerleaders usually start on begining level tumbling, so it doesnt matter if your never tried it before. They will also work on jumps and dance so you help your other parts of cheer too.

As far as popularity goes, i have found that their is no such thig as popularity. Usually, people that are "popular" are just that way because they are good at making friends with everybody; why do you think they have so many friends? If this is true, then you should be able to make friends with them in no time, just try to be friendly to everyone, i think that this will take a person a long way. If these girls really are terrible, then what is the worst that will happen? If you learn how to cheer in a cheer class, then all they will be able to say is "Can you beleive she is trying out?" and then they will watch you and say "Oh... she's kinda good..." and soon enough, they'll be coming up to you, asking how your weekend was.

If you want to play tennis, try going to the Rec-center, either in your town of another one. You could also play on the courts at the high school (then you dont have to pay).

I think that getting involved in a sport that you truely like is one of the best things that some one can do... Go for it!! Good luck, Im sure it will work out!

No offense, but I want to be a professional hockey player, but I can't. I can't skate, though, so I am out of luck. If your school's cheerleader squad is gymnastic-geared, then you need to learn gymnastics. Otherwise, you simply can't do it.

If they are not, then it probably doesn't matter. Go for it if you want! But think hard about whether or not this is what you really want to do. If the girls don't like you, then it will be a miserable experience. That said, if you succeed, you may win their respect and friendship. You never know if you don't try.

You might consider talking to the coach first and getting more information. Good luck!

F the popular girls. Go and do it...don't just assume they will be "mean to you" you might make it and then those "popular girls" will be your friends. Don't look at it as a bad thing, always think positive and positive things will happen. Don't think those girls are any better then you because they probably aren't. So go try out for the team, and if you dn't make it you don't make it. but you won't be 21 with regrets of not even tryings wondering if you could have made the team. My girlfriend was a cheerleader and if you can do the splits somewhat, a toe touch, and a cartwheel you have a chance of making the team. Just go try out and see what happens...worry about yourself, not them.

when i was in high school i was known as "the fat cheerleader"- that was behind my back of course. The first time i heard it it hurt, but i realized those people are just ignorant and rude and have no class. i say, do your best, show what you can do, be genuinely bouncy and bubbly- if you want it- GO FOR IT! be the best cheerleader you can! so what if the "popular girls" tease you? by the time you get out of high school, they will mean absolutely nothing to you.. they will just be the dumb b***ches who will never grow up OR they will become your best friends!

here is a tip for life- the "popular" people, are only popular amongst themselves and are usually the most insecure- the rest of the world could care less!

best of luck GOOOO you!!!!!!!
