CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.
SOCIALISM -- PURE: You have two cows. The government takes them and puts them in a barn with everyone else's cows. You have to take care of all the cows. The government gives you as much milk as you need.
COMMUNISM: You have two cows. The government takes both cows. The government sells the milk in government stores. You can't afford the milk. You wither away.
I prefer to keep my own cows thank you.
I must add for the "useful idiots", the two concepts are polar opposites, socialism is about the destruction of capitalism, and capitalism is about developing capital and you can do with it what you want since it is yours and you earned it.
Socialism is about taking from those who develop capital, what most rational humans call stealing.

Capitalism. The reason why is because it is not flawed at its core. To be a socialistic society everyone needs to be equal, and share everything. Nothing can be off balance. No one could have titles that would make one person more than another. In order for a socialistic society to even be put into place one person would need to step up and lead the movement, making them a leader, hence greater than the rest. With capitalism, at least people get to be what they are the best at not just put into a role. In socialism the government decides what people work where, which means you may have a person that would be a great rocket scientist as a basketball player, a great teacher as a farmer or a great farmer trying to be a rocket scientist. Doesn't really work to well.

Ok, a clarification because of all of the posts saying that America is capitalist. America is also a socialist country with capitalism mixed in. Education- Socialist, its ran by the government. Welfare- Government ran, and paid for by taxes. Unemployment- Again. The issue is finding a proper balance between the two, too many socialist programs and everybody suffers, because there isn't enough money in the economy, for example France, where some people would rather make full wages doing nothing. But if we have no social services the poor suffer too much. Its a delicate balance, too much socialism we all suffer, too little, and the poor suffer too much.

Capitalism, you chive by your own merits, you can set your own goals, competition for making a better product, is healthiest for all involved, it promotes quality over quantity.
Socialism, seems well and fair on paper and in theory, but there is no challenge in archiving, no sense of self accomplishment, And there are to many free loaders who will rest on the system and the work of others to get there supposed fair share. I guess it's good for people who have a problem withself- motivation or jealousy and envy (I hate that guy because he has what I want and also more than me!) thats a pretty lame life style for me, I don't worry who has more than me, most earned it, and should not be punished for success. We only are on this earth for a short time, Eternity is what really counts..

Capitalism. Simply put, I like to make my own decisions in regards to my life. I like to spend the money I make, pick the doctor who treats me, control what is built on my property. I enjoy a free market economy. Competition between businesses insures good products. With socialism you end up with all things run by the lowest bidder instead of the most qualified.

It's pretty simple,
Capitalism is succesful and brings freedom and prosperity.
Simply put, Socialism has failed and is failing wherever it is still practiced.
There are varying degrees where countries try to be both, but really, once people get a taste for freedom, it's all over. It's only a matter of time.
Check out any former eastern bloc country in Europe.

Capitalism. Socialism, like any other egalitarian philosophy, is based on a vision of human nature that is unsupported by reality. Capitalism may be based on an unduly pessimistic vision of human nature (soley motivated by self-interest), but it's unfortunately an accurate enough vision of human nature for the system to work pretty well.

The private control and ownership of wealth, capitalism, is the only way to insure individual freedom and liberty. Whenever a state controls wealth, whether a socialistic or feudal state, that state will coerce the people.
Only thru capitalism can an individual command their own fate.

I prefer a mix, one where you are rewarded or hard work and one where one person like say Bill gates can amass a fortune like he has done.
Nothing wrong with wealth, I feel guilty at times when my empolyees do all the work and I make most of the money, this is why I give bonuses and other incentives.
A person needs incentive to work,if most know that they will earn just x amount then they will work only so hard.
But most will work harder and faster if they have incentives.

Capitalism! it forces people to take responsabilty for there lives and future. Socialism looks good on paper but history has shown it simply doesnt work , too many lazzy people that want to take advantage of the system and the minority of people working hard trying to make it work.
