Capitalism: You build a company and keep the money you make.
Socialism: The government takes the company you built, ruins it by trying to run it themselves, redistributes all your profits to those not at the company, then hides the failure of the company from the outside world until the end of the cold war.

The difference between the two is huge:
Capitalism is about money (capital),
Socialism is about people (society).
Socialism is a first stage / step toward communism, which in turn is (supposed to be ) the highest level of the society organizational structure where 'Everybody does whatever he can and everybody gets whatever he needs / wants'.
This is the ultimate goal of the communism.
Does anybody have more exact description of Haven?
Can you see where the idea of communism is coming from?
Capitalism has no any idea behind it except simple survival in accordance with "jungle laws". And there is no real unity
between members of that capitalist "society".

Socialism- an economic system which is based on cooperation rather than competition and which utilizes centralized planning and distribution.
Capitalism- an economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.

Big difference. Capitalism tries to help society by promoting the individuals who comprise society. Socialism tries to help society as a whole for the sake of eliminating poverty and inequity. Capitalism seems to be more efficient because it has the motivating factor that seems to be lacking in socialism and communism.

They are different economic theories. One is based on the community (socialism) and the other is based on the individual (capitalism). They are rooted in theories about private property as well as "human nature."
Google them and read up, they are far to involved for me to explain here. Read Hobbes, Locke, Marx and Rousseau.

CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.
SOCIALISM -- PURE: You have two cows. The government takes them and puts them in a barn with everyone else's cows. You have to take care of all the cows. The government gives you as much milk as you need.

socialism...I earn it and the government takes it and pays the bills for lazy bum's.
capitalism...I earn it and I get to keep it to use it on my own family or donate to the charities of MY choice.
Basically socialism means I went to college, planned my life responsibly, and pull my own weight when I could have just laid around making babies and living off the guy who went to college...
Capitalism...you want what I have? get an education and a job and earn it...you live your life trying to pull your own weight and something bad happens, I will help you back on your feet, dust you off, and get you back to pulling your own weight. But I wont give you an indefinite vacation on my dime.

Capitalism is when you get to profit from the fruits of your own labor. Socialism is when the fat, lazy slob next door who doesn't work gets to profit from the fruits of your own labor.
Remember the socialist mantra: 'From each, according to their ability; to each, according to their need'.
