We are fighting a war in a country who has been fighting for thousands of years. They don't want us there. We have lost more soldiers than people we lost in 9/11. Our gas prices are worse than they have ever been. I don't see how "winning" or "losing" the war in Iraq benefits our own country in any way, shape or form.

Winning the war in Iraq is essential to stop Blair looking like a moron and Bush thinks it will stop him looking like one too. Hope springs eternal as they say

Late edit: A lot of folks seem convinced the war is about oil but that has no real logic. Whoever controls Iraq the oil will end up on the world market. The real reason for keeping America in a constant state of war is to maintain the flood of government funds into the defence industry. Also when US exports and manufacturing are being outpaced by Japan China , India and other emerging players, wars help to prop up the economy.

I wish we would just get out of there, we are not about to make them stop fighting, they will continue fighting until the world comes to an end! I agree with you completly, we can't do anything to help them!
It does NOT benefit the US to be in Iraq, it drains the economic, moral, and military aspect of the US!
