Mty mom left my brother alone for like 10-15 minutes so she could go to the mailbox. Nosy neighbor called cops. my mom had to deal with CPS (Child protection S4rvicies) My brother wasn't harmed.
After going to a hearing the judge gave my mother two options jail time or probation(3-5 years). My mom's lawyers are saying taking probation or dont do anything yet. It's very confusing. The court has no proof of the allegation of my brother being alone for 2-43 hrs. It was only 15 minutes maximum. CPS came to my school and interviewed me. My mom has been told she might lose custody of us. What's your view?>

The courts and CPS are fond of using scare tactics to keep people in line. If your mom has an attorney, let him handle it.

Before anyone can really answer your question, you need to give us a little more information.
1 - how old is your brother?
2 - how far away is your mailbox?
3 - nosy neighbor - just a busybody or does she have an issue with your mom for some reason?
4 - are there other reasons CPS may believe there is neglect or danger to you and your brother?

However, assuming that your mother did indeed only leave your brother alone for a few minutes, and he was not in any immediate danger (by an open electrical outlet with a pair of scissors, eating bleach, could have pulled a boiling pot on himself) then there is a good chance CPS will perform a thorough investigation of your situation, and, if there is no danger, recommend to the judge that nothing further occur. On the other hand, if they feel that you and your brother are in any sort of danger, they will take action, ranging from further visits to removing you from your mother's care. Keep in mind, this is an organization designed to look out for the welfare of people too young to look out for themselves.

You sure it wasnt an hour or two or three?

you have mean neighbors, and crazy ones, and ones with good intentions.

Is this like a 6 month old kid? 2 years?

If he was a loud 2-3 year old, they may have called your house and then called the cops--- possibly scared .
She probably wont lose custody of you-- but anything can happen you should be prepared to go live with grandma if there is evidence that this was longer than you have been told. I hope its a misunderstanding, and nothing will happen.
Try to trust the lawyers.

You never mention how old your brother is. If he is very young I can see their concern but other wise I do not see a problem.
When cops are called they always have to investigate if someone seems to be concerned. Your neighbors need to mind their own business
If any children services end up involved all your mother has to do is be honest. An experienced case worker will always know what is really going on.
If an attorney is already involved on your mother behalf then let the attorney guide her through this.
You being interviewed is a natural procedure for children services.

I had a spiteful ex husband call children services on me and all I did was spoke to the woman and was very honest with her. She spoke to my children and the case ended up being dropped and they in turn opened a case against him.

Each case is very unique in its own way. Good luck to you and your family.
