The Porsche Turbo tiptronic s is faster to 60 by a tenth (3.4vs3.5), and runs through the quarter mile at the same time as the corvette , but a couple mph's slower (11.7@121 vs 11.7@123). After 120 mph, the ZO6 pulls away from the turbo, and has a faster top speed (useless on public roads) of 198 vs the 185 for the turbo. Around a track, the Corvette was 1.7 seconds faster, at 1.6 mph faster as well. Driving at topspeed in the corvette is very nerve racking, for the steering of the earlier cars were very "sensitive and twitchy." The Turbo is much more stable at topspeed.

The new Porsche is faster around the track then the new corvette, like any other generation of these cars. The difference in the new genertations is that the Porsche is actually faster in the straight line 0-60 as well. The new 911 Turbo with tiptronic is 3.4 seconds to 60mph. The Porsche however, has better safety, it is better looking, better and more technology, and the quality of everypart is superior to the American made Corvette.

With a professional driver behind the wheel, the z06 would be able to edge out the 911 turbo on most tracks.
that being said, with anything less than a professional driver the turbo will have a large advantage. The z06 is supposedly just brutally hard to drive near the limit (Angelelli said it was extremely difficult to drive), while the 911 turbo is rather easy (especially for a 911).

It most competitions, it would wind up being pretty close... though in pure performance the Z06 would have the edge in either a straight line or around the track (though the previously mentioned GT3 would be a better car to compare to around a race track). The Turbo does enjoy an advantage with AWD and has much better brakes, but not enough to overcome the Corvette's strengths.
The Z06 is lacking in some of the attention to detail and build quality that you'll find in the Turbo (as you might expect given the price difference beteween the two), but as a track car it is probably better suited to open track than the 997 Turbo, and would likely be close to a second a lap quicker around most circuits.

If you are talking about the newest cars, the Corvette. The porsche would get you laid more I bet though lol
I agree with the guy below me, on a track it might be a different story. Porsches are known for their great handling ability, might come down to which driver is better. But in a straight line like at a drag strip, the corvette would win stock for stock.
