First off, thank you to everyone who responded to my question. Now I have another. For the internal DVD drive, will it also read cd's that I put in. Would I need a double drive to put the cd that I want to copy in and then another for the blank cd that I am creating? Does that make sense? How do I know if the drive will fit internally? Would I have to take out the existing drive that I have?

Yes, a DVD-RW (DVD writer) will also read and write CDs

You won't need two optical drives when you are making a copy - the copy software will have an option to copy from one drive to another - just turn that off. In Nero this is the "disc to disc" option.

It will first copy to the hard drive and then to the blank disc.

I think you are trying to copy from CD/DVD. You need to drives to burn a CD/DVD from another one, unless you store it on you computer and then burn it from there.

If you are talking about a DVD rom playing CD, then NO

With Nero software, you can almost do anything w/ your DVD writer (CDs included). ONE drive is enough!
