I saw from your other question that the person you're seeking is your sister. First off, if you haven't done so already, you should register at ISSR in the chance your sister is searching for you. You can find the ISRR website FAQs at

http://www.isrr.net/faq.shtml

Also, you can register here as it is a pretty popular site.

http://registry.adoption.com/

You should also register at the official Texas Adoption registry. As long as you are over 18, you have the right to register as a sibling. The address is:

http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Protection/Adoption_Registry/default.asp

Realize though that adoption registries are not well publicized, so many people don't know about them. Prepare yourself that you may register with every site there is and still not come up with a match. Don't think that's because she doesn't want to be found! It may well be because she simply doesn't know about the registries.

Because of this, be sure you have a good support base to help you with the ups and downs of your search. There are a number of good online support groups, but you're going to want to find one specialized for Texas.

A few Texas support sites are at

There's a lot to go over here, and there are more tips in the link below. This is a huge free ebook on searching.

Good luck!

You probably have to go to the county office and even then they might not give you the information. You might want to go to the adoption house if you know where it is. If they have the info you need but wont give it to you, hire a private investiagtor. They can get the info legally where you cant if thats the situation

My sister and niece live in Denton, TX...she was born in 10/84 though. What are the parents' names...I'll ask her or my sister if they know them.

Privacy laws would prevent you from finding anything out- doubly so, if you aren't her parent (or some other blood relative, like a sibling).

U should hire a private detective. A friend of mine did this when she wanted to find her birth mother and it worked!
