And why do you think schools don't teach Indian mythology and they opt to teach Greek and Roman mythology?

Mythology or solid fact, I'm just using the terminology people are used to. I don't consider the Christian God solid fact as the existence of any God is more of an intangible idea than actual solid entity ,in my opinion of course. I don't mean to step on anyone's beliefs. So, sorry for seeming biased.

Shiva. Brahma. Durga (my personal favorite). Krishna. Ganesh.

Good question. I am not sure why more schools don't teach Indian mythology. It may be because so few teachers know anything about it. It may be because Hinduism is still an accepted and practiced religion, which could cause some problems at some schools (separation of church and state and all that).

Lord ganesha is the most important name amongst the indian gods and godess... He is the son of lord shiva and godess parvathi and is worshipped whenever we start something new. It is said that he wrote mahabharatha without a break as dictated by vedvyaas. Saraswathy is goddess of knowledge, lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and shakthi is considered as goddess of power(shakthi). bhrama is said to be husband of saraswathy devi and is known as creator . But he is not been worshipped in any temple as main God (coz of a 'shraap'. There is another story behind it.). Then..... Lord shiva is said to be destroyer and lord vishnu, the preserver of the world..
As far as the question of mythological education, children comes to know about these things from the parents in their childhood itself through stories. Then i dont think they are to be taught again in schools. Whereas the cultures and mythological facts of other countries and groups of people should be taught in schools coz we dont know what all things those people used to follow there.. and what were their religious customs and traditions..

Ganesha is one of the most revered. Then We have Brahma, the creator. Vishnu, the preserver and Shiva the destroyer. I will not consider them as mythology however.
