The duration seems normal. They can last from 3-8 days.
But the pain and sweating could be a problem. Although many women experience these symptoms, some women may have a choice to take a special prescribed medication. You should see your doctor.
The actual reason is hormones. They cause the symptoms.
Best of luck!

This might not be a lot of help, I'm no doctor. I used to get EXTREMELY painful periods. They were 7-8 days long, I used to vomit, not eat, not sleep, and cry all day. It was pretty bad.
I went to the obgyn and I got birth control. Everything is regulated and I have pills for the pain. I recommend that the most. She told me periods will be irregular for someone not on birth control until they're older when it regulates.
Sucks, but birth control rules.

I am the same way. 2nd and 3rd days are the worst with the most cramps. It is completely normal. The sweaty, oily thing is probably all hormonal. This is why many of us break out with pimples at this time too.

Unfortunately this could be a "normal" period for you. My niece is 16, and she has periods about every 3 weeks. The doctor told her that unless there are further problems, this could just be her cycle. I don't know how old you are, but if you are very young, then perhaps your period will eventually get shorter. As for the hot spells, it could be hormonal. If you have more problems or symptoms, seek a doctor's help. It's not that embarrassing, trust me.

With a 28 day cycle you probably ovulate about 14 days (+/1 2 days) after the FIRST day of your period. It doesn't matter how long you bleed. You count from the first day of bleeding.

How old are you? If you are in your 30's and your periods used to be shorter, then I recommend wild yam. Get the standardized extract and take one or two pills per day. It has shortened my periods from 8 days to 5 or 6.

Definately go see a gynecologist! You should talk to a specialist about what you're experiencing. It could be normal...but, don't assume anything until you get professional advice from your ob/gyn.
