It starts with having the desire 'to be happy'.
It may sound simple, but many think it is something they will be surprised with or have fall in their lap. If they are miserable, nothing will bring them happieness until they truly want it.

I list ten daily activities on my refrigerator that fulfill me and I try to follow these things. Then when I go to bed I feel as if I have lived the day to the fullest. This makes me happy.
For instance my list looks something like this...
1. Do a form of exercise.
2. Be kind to a stranger as if they were my best friend, like smile or open a door. It is nice to be important but more important to be nice.
3. Remember to thank those who are kind to me
4. Call my papa every day or night and hear his voice and remind him that I love him and he is the most important person in my life.
5. Be involved in a creative activity such as play my instruments or dance silly.
6. Be silent for a while...no music or tv for at least half an hour for self reflection.
7. Listen to my favorite music
8. Be grateful to live another day (thank god)
9. eat as if my life depended on it
10. Drink water
This list helps me remind me what makes me happy ultimately.

Happiness is not found, but created.
When you review your beliefs, thoughts and language, you will find what creates a lack or absence of happiness.
Step 1. Learn to clear you mind.
Step 2. Learn to silence the inner voice.
Step 3. Choose your words with care. They create your reality.

"Give up what you do not want, and keep what you do." TCIM
Discerning the truth is the challenge. The learned defensive ego is stubborn and insane. Returning to "being" your true Self is both the easiest and most difficult thing in the world dependent on how deeply you've been "programmed."
