My device manager says that my computer has a USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller. Does that mean I can use any of the USB ports, or is one specifically a 2.0? The ports just have a USB symbol, they are not labeled 1.1, or 2.0.

There is no visual difference btwn USB 2.0 and 1.1. And all USB ports are backwards compatible so you can use older USB devises with the new USB 2.0 ports.

hi there

there is no difference in apperance, but if you connect a USB 2.0 device into a USB 1.1 port, Windows will say that you can obtain better speeds.

USB2.0 is a lot faster at transfering data though, thats the reason for the message!

No there is no difference its just the speed difference. In order to fully take advantage of USB2.0 though...You must have everything usb2.0 the port, the cable, the item that is connected must also be capable of usb 2.0. It will still work if its not. It just wont be as fast. It will be like your using USB1

No. It is in the performance where you will see the difference. More new items also require 2.0.
