If we look carefully into the 1st chapter of the bookof Romans, in Vol.2 of the Holy Scriptures, we clearly see that homosexuality was the recorded result of what occured to those who had once known YAHWEH thier HEAVENLY FATHER, yet, had chosen to put HIM aside to live thier own lifes, instead of following HIS COMMANDMENTS. Homosexuality is considered an abomination to YAHWEH!!! Pastor teaches us that an abomination is something that not only destroys our own bodies, but it also sets out to destroy the bodies of other people as well. Thus, the wild fire spread of AIDES, HERPES, SYPHILIS, ect.. Is it a worse sin than any other? Not in the fact that if we don't repent of sin, no matter what sin that might be, we'll chose to burn in our passions. Seek to follow what you know is right. Get back to knowing your HEAVENLY FATHER & set the worlds ways aside. To KNOW the FATHER is to KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. Questions: call 325-676-9494 ask at Abel, that will settle the matter!!!

Some sins have greater consequences than others; that can't be disputed and I think anyone can see that if you contrast murdering someone as opposed to stealing a candy bar. Regardless sin is sin no matter how small or big; and it is what separates us from a perfect God. As far as Christian theology goes, we are all sinners whether it is a egregious sin or so called benign. What is someone going to say; " I'm the best sinner in Hell". This is not a badge of honor I would want. You're still in Hell separated from God and His grace. The only way to cover our sin is through Jesus Christ. Something to think about, Adam and Eve had fallen from grace just by eating the forbidden fruit. Doesn't that seem minor? But it shows how much God hates sin and will not put up with it. So no there is no difference in the fact that sin separates us from God; that doesn't mean we won't pay the consequences here on earth for our action in some sense. If we continue in our ways apart from Christ we are just building up wrath against us. Check out 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 it echos your point that there is no difference between a homosexual and an adulterer.

You can't possibly expect a real answer in such a manner. A truly appropriate answer would fill a dozen solid pages and since that is highly impractical I'll do my best.
First things first, the nature of your question implies you belive there is a g-d since you ask if it's a sin. That's a good start. Now let me ask you (again I beg you to understand that this is extremlly compacted but be that as it may) if you made something, lets say you painted a picture, wouldn't you want that picture to last? To stand proudly on your wall? Wouldn't you want people to come in and admire it and praise you for your work and talent? Finally, wouldn't you be extremly devastated if someone were to come and not just destroy it, but ever so slowly break away little bits? Of course you would! Who wouldn't?
If so, then g-d who made this world which is unimaginably greater and more complex then we could ever even begin to understand, would want it to last? Wouln't g-d want it to flourish and shine proudly for all to admire? So how do you think g-d feels to see people living a homosexual life and slowly destroying his world. The essence of life is to pursue it and can you imagine how many babies are being left unborn because there are some misguided people out there.
I repeat, this doesn't even scratch the surface of the issue but, as you can see from the one liners above, no matter what you say people hear what they want to hear. For those of you who said "it's not a sin", I will give you the benifit of the dought that you didn't know how to spell the words: "It most certainly is!!"

Ugh I refuse I was born to sin, that's foolish. I am good in all other ways. I don't cheat, or steal, and I very very very rarely lie unlike yourself.
So I don't see why somehow something I have no control over, my sexual orientation, makes me more of a sinner than you, or even an equal sinner.
You make yourself sound like an awful person, all those things you do are choice.
I have never known another life than this, I cannot change my sexual orientation more than I can change my eyecolour.
I don't see why I should live a lie just to make you happy.
And I will not ask for forgiveness for something I have no say over.
Sure I can pay thousands of dollars to try to pray the gay away, but that leaves me poor and gay, and makes some con artists out there rich off my sorrow. Brilliant, the Christian way it seems.
If my sexual orientation is a sin in your world, fine, but I will not apologize EVER for something I've no control over.
I'm a good person, it's you who's judging me otherwise by labeling me a sinner. A label I reject.

You tricked me. I thought you were going to say that all sins are equal in the eyes of God. Which you did, but then you had to throw in the part about knowing being gay was wrong and repenting. Sorry, I can't do that. I am who I am and that is truly all I can be. I don't think that God would make me this way if it was so horrible. I am glad that you said sins are all equal, some seem to forget that. I just wish you had stopped there. Oh well.
I changed my mind, I don't think all sins are equal. I think anything done out of hate trumps being gay any day. Murder trumps lying, etc. They are all bad, but some are far worse.

A sin is a sin... when you act upon a sin is when it is sin.
Jesus reaffirmed this natural order when answering the Pharisees concerning divorce:
Mark 10:6-9
"But from the beginning of creation, {God} made them male and female. For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and the two shall become one flesh; consequently they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."
Here, Christ affirms the sanctity of the sexual order as God intended, monogamous relationships between men and women. To set this order aside and to practice other relationships than what God created is to defile ourselves and our relationships.
An example of sin as missing the mark follows. Suppose a person is engaging in a sin, and has done so for years because he has grown up in a certain social climate where this sin was common practice. The person is ignorant of the fact that this is sin, but in spite of his ignorance he needs the atonement. However, guilt is not attached to this sin until the person becomes enlightened as to the fact that he is engaging in sin.

...I suppose we all have a right to our own opinions. I respect your right to live life as a christian...faith is an amazing thing. it can bring you back from the depths of hell on earth when nothing else could had...having said that, I don't believe in what you have said. I'm not a christian...however, I believe in the christian god and he is a much more accepting god than most christians like to think...but my religion is complicated. I believe that everyone is born the way they are for a reason. I don't believe homosexuality is a sin. it may be a hardship that whatever god created you meant for you to experience...to bring you back in the next life with an open heart and mind...but not a sin. the bible is the only source that anyone has that calls this a sin...the bible is also an artificial text...man-made. let's assume there was some divine influence on it's text though...for just a moment. from that interpretation, I would gather that straight humans should not go so low as to sleep with the same sex for nothing more than pleasure....homosexuals however are a totally different case...but I don't believe there was much divinity to the bible myself...just human arrogance which preaches the hate that is seen in the bible...most christians forget the lesson the bible teaches at places though...love thy neighbor...but what do I know? I'm just human myself...but at least I've understood one thing that most humans will never accept...to quote a man I don't know the name of :P
"true knowledge comes from knowing that we truly know nothing."

Many things taught by the "church" as sins are not sins at all. The verses that are often used to indicate that homosexuals are sinners on the way to hell are mistranslated and mis-taught.
What is actually meant is the sin of pederasty.
God loves everyone equally regardless of who they are or what they have done or do. Homosexuals can be born again Christians every bit as much as all the little "saints" running around pointing their bony little fingers at those who do not meet there standards telling them, "Your going to burn in Heeeelllllll!" They only "parrot" what they have been taught and do not have the where-with-all to learn on their own.
I challenge you to read the following pieces of information.

I would be interested to know which denomination you follow, and how you feel about pedifiles, and the existence of hell.
Do you feel that pedefiles can be reformed? If not, compare that with the inclinations of a homosexual. (I'm not saying that they are the same by ANY means. I'm saying that pedefiles are sexually attracted to children. Sexual attraction cannot be "reformed.") How do you think, then, that prayer that a homosexual will recognize their 'sin' is helpful? They are sexually attracted to the same gender. Is that, in your eyes, the same as praying for a murderer to repent? A murder is a choice, and attraction is not. The act upon the attraction is a choice. So, are you saying that if a person is attracted to the same sex, but does not act on it, then they are not a homosexual?
I'm curious.

right the thing is that a sin is doing something you believe is morally wrong. If you believe it's wrong then you cause ur self pain. THIS is a sin and you should never do it.
But if ur open minded then nothing can ever be counted as a sin if there is a reasonable explanation for doing it. If god didn't like gay people he wouldn't have let them live. We're not alien breeds and we're just like any other human but we like other things. For example some people may like pink some blue, some people like bananas some apples. We're all different and we should all be treated as good people even if we're gay.

I can't understand how people can be so closed minded and ignorant still in this day and age. I am not religious. I was brought up Roman Catholic and attended 12 years of Catholic Schooling and have learned the ins and outs of the scripture and it's just confirmed how hypocritical these mainstream religious associations are. Love everyone.. with the exceptions of A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,sometimes K, mainly L, love M most of the time unless they sleep with N.. etc, etc, etc.. Why can't we all just love with absolutely no exceptions. Love a man, love a woman, love a caucasian, love an african american.. it's completely insane to me that someone could argue that a good hearted man who is polite to everyone he meets, is caring, loving, generous, lives a great life but just so happens to fall in love with another man will be sent to "hell" b/c of it.. who is it hurting?? how is this a sin.
