d: 1/5

Jack owns 20/100 of the company (definition of percent).

To reduce that fraction we have to divide both the 20 and the 100 by the same number.

To reduce it as much as possible, we divide both 20 and 100 by the BIGGEST number we can.

We can divide them both by 20. 20 /20 is 1, 100 / 20 is 5.

The reduced fraction is 1/5.

Well, Jack owns 20% of the company, which is 20/100 but you have to reduce it to lowest terms. 100 is divisible by 20; therefore, 20/20=1 and 100/20=5. The answer is D: 1/5

Jack owns 20% = .2 = 2/10 = 1/5 of the company.

D because 1/5 means 20 out of 100. 100 divided by 20 equals 5.

My answer would be "D"... because... Jack= 20/100....

To reduce 20/100 to the lowest terms... you have to divide "20" on both of them... 20 divided by 20= 1 and 100 divided by 100 is 5.... Therefore, it is 1/5... =)

a or d would work.
you already said 20% is 20/100, so simplify. For someone whom has learned percent should have learned to simplify fractions. 1/5 is your answer.
