Lame Duck,
Actually, it's because they're so biased that they are important in this case. Since most polls tend to slant to the left anyway, how much worse does the country feel about the congress than is really being indicated?

Hopefully it will hit rock bottom! I knew that they would blow it and they did it in record time!! It will be the Republicans in 2008! They have criticized Bush for not having a plan or a direction and it's obvious that this group of people don't even have a clue!!! Even a bad direction or a bad plan would have been something. They are so busy fighting the president that they are going to be the loosers.

Compare October to February and get back to me. The Democrats are having trouble developing a plan to get out of Iraq, a situation as messed up politically here as it is militarily there. Here's why: 1) "Cutting off funding for the troops" has a connotation of troops over there in Iraq waiting for food and bullets and fuel that never arrives because we stopped funding them. It's why polls show high approvals for both "timely withdrawal" and low approvals for "cut funding." This, of course, is not approved of by any one and the Democrats know with what kind of brush they would be painted. It's also not what cutting off funding would do. If funds were cut, forward operations would stop. We would have to withdraw. 2) Simply put, the Senate doesn't have the votes to overide a Republican filibuster. And neither house has the votes to override a presidential veto which they would surely face. The Democrats have a fair majority in the House and the absolute slimmest of majorities in the Senate. If the status quo from November could have been maintained through another election cycle, the Democrats might get the votes, but the anti-war votes that elected them don't have the patience. Clearly, they don't even have the patience to wait one month. What the GOP has done is shifted responsibility for the war to the Democrats, who are powerless to stop it. Clever. (Oh, and the President's lowest approval rating has clocked in at 29%... that's stil lower than Congress... and I didn't think it could get worse but the DOJ is in trouble on two fronts so it very well might.)

Everyone knows what Congress should do -- but why arent they doing it?
Dont beat around th bush with it democrats.
Pull the funding or filibuster the darn thing yourselves.
Resend over and over again, the same darn bill.
And do as George bush does -- goes in front of the camera and says hes not going to budge.
Well dont budge either, and see whta happens when the money runs out. Our troops will come home!
Whos the bigger idiot, bush for doign whatever he wants to, or the democrats who are allowing him to conitnue to do as he wishes?

Congress's approval is always low- but that's still a dismal number for a President. Why would you be happy about watching a parapalegic arm-wrestling tournament?

Not much more if some of the answer's on Y/A is any indication. It seems some people on here hate Bush so much, they would vote anyone in that just said "I don't like Bush." Even Hitler.

even lower, the more they try and appease Bush. They were put in to end this war. Make no mistake...their approval has nothing to do with Bush's approval.
