there is no sensitivity adjustment or volume adjustment on the factory alarm system and no way to turn the horn 'off'.

That being said, you can use the remote to lock the car and arm the system without blowing the horn by pressing the lock button only one time when you lock the car. Pressing it a second time beeps the horn for confirmation. If you don't want the horn to beep, only press the remote one time.

The Horn sounds only the second time you press the lock button to confirm that the vehicle is indeed locked.

This is useful if you are carrying multiple passengers and you want to confirm that the doors were all shut when you locked it. If someone did not shut their door completely the lock mechanism will not allow ANY of the doors to lock no matter how many times you push the button.

As a general rule of thumb I suggest to my customers that they get into the habit of pressing the button twice in a public place to confirm that the locks did indeed activate. If you are parking somewhere at night or need to be quiet then watch for the indicator lamps to flash when you press the lock button once. If they flash all is well if they do not then again someone has left a door open.

Hope this helps.
