Joe Montana without a doubt. Good Athlete, Great instincts for a quaterback, good patience in the pocket (he would get rocked just to hang in there to throw that good pass), very accurate (he totaly redefined the art of the short and medium passes), ice in his veins under pressure, what more could you ask for in a quarterback and he just happens to have a couple of Super Bowl Rings to add to that.

Although I'm a huge Marino fan, I can't believe nobody said Fran Tarkenton. He revolutionized the quarterback position as we know it.

All Around.......... as you asked and which all the people obviously did not read was in my opinion Fran Tarkenton. He was a great passer and an excellent scrambler with the leadership abilities to lead his team. Look at his numbers overall and I put them up against anybody. A close second would be Staubach.

It is hard to say that Bradshaw was better then Elway over Montana, over Marino, over Stawback, over Aikman, over Cunningham, over Moon, etc...The 1980's had such great QB's it is hard to narrow it down in my book.
If you go off pure stats its Dan Marino. Intellegence Montana or Young. If you go off total package meaning he could pass, run, toughness arm strength Elway, Cunningham, or Farve.

i will have to go with Joe Montana since he made the 49'ers the team of the decade in the 80's. he has to be in the top not only for winning but since we knew the game so well that he couldnt be stopped
