yes. while average is 100, the range for most people is like 70 to 130, so 96 is quite far from bottom.

Average intelligence is iq100, why would you think someone with 96% of that cannot function?
Anyway, iq tests are not at all foolproof. I have had test results varying between 118 and 138 so they cannot be very accurate.
I guess an average doctor would have an iq maybe 30 points higher than an average plumber. But who are you gonna call when your pipes are leaking?

Yes. A 96 IQ is at the lower end of normal I.Q.
Normal I.Q. ranges between 90 - 106.
People with an I.Q. of 77 or less have difficulties functioning in society.
A dog has been tested with an I.Q. of 4.

Yes, they can look after themselves. Average IQ range is 90-110. They should be ablt to perform alright. They may struggle academically but the rest of their life should be fine.

People with IQs in the range of 90-100 and even lower do very well indeed. They constitute the overwhelming plurality of the population. You work with them, and are dependent upon them every day.
Most importantly, they are human beings.

IQ alone cannot make a person mature enough to look after complete self. A person needs to have EQ- Emotional Quotient, though what rating will suffice is not known to me!

oh lord yes.. 80 is where you start talking about "low functioning" and I used to work in a group home.. some of those kids tested as low as the 70's and were still normal functioning in their day to day lives... remember.. 100 is "average" people will fall on all sides of that.

it is possible for them to have a job. some jobs that they give to people with a low I.Q are very easy .how smart do you have to be to wipe off tables or make sure the napkin tray is full or to take out the trash .little jobs like this are perfect for people with a mental disability.now get a wife /husband that may be a little more difficult because they cant really take care of their self it would only be more difficult to care for another person

96 is pretty mid range, so I figure they can function just fine in society. When it gets down to 70 or so, society starts functioning for them and charging us taxes to do it.
