Overall I believe so. America offers a chance for people to have a good life. So many immigrants came here years ago and many still want to live here -- they realize it is a great country and more opportunities exist here for them than wherever they are living. I have talked to people who were missionaries in other countries and they always say living in some of these oppressed areas makes them appreciate the freedoms and liberties afforded them here in America.

Like America in which way? Our economy? Our democratic/republic form of representative government? Our freedoms? Our media? Our culture? Our technology?
The world would be better off if all countries that had dictatorships would no longer be dictatorships. The world would be better off if all countries had our wealth and technology.
But diversity is a good thing, and if all other countries were JUST like America, the world would not be nearly as interesting. I am a conservative neutral (not strict Republican).

Short answer: No and I am a liberal/democrat.
Long answer: Such a question not only makes an example of ethnocentricity but makes me wonder, why exactly should I consider America to be such a great and wonderous model that all nations should just forget their own histories and cultures and perhaps even conflicts with the US and simply become another state of the US.

In many ways yes. Liberal free-market democracies throughout the world would be near ideal. On the other hand, they shouldn't rush to adopt all our cuisine or eating habits, or emulate much of what comes out of Hollywood. I like alternatives to choose from, and not everything can be objectively good or bad. Beyond free-markets, it's sort of up to the consumer on what they want their culture and economy to be like.
I'm a Republican leaning libertarian.

i'm from the united kingdom, and maximum folk of people i comprehend who comprehend that Obama isn't the only candidate in this election all choose McCain to win. people hate Bush, yet could Obama be in the type of solid place if he have been white and the possibility of changing into 'the 1st black president' did no longer beckon? His marketing campaign is fairly a circus, and he's the clown. i'm specific all of us in the western international that actual is acquainted with what they are speaking approximately would be hoping McCain pulls it off.

Being Socratic, I ask "Better for whom?" My real response is no. I am a registered Republican who believes that we can only be enriched with our differences. Who are we to set the standard for the rest of the world.

Overall it is a "yes"
Even though America is not perfect I believe that other countries want to "be like us" or else we would not have so many immigrants, aliens, etc wanting to come here
