Unable to Establish a LAN connection b/w my Windows Xp and windows vista system....can any one plzz help me?

I Even Installed the LLTD update from windows update site

The following items need to be checked.
1. Firewalls have to allow LAN --- trun them off while setting up and see if connections work.

2. Workgroup name has to be the same on all machines.
Set the workgroup name to the same name

3. File and printer sharing has to be enabled on both machines. Check that they are both enabled.

4. Have to be within the same IP and subnet range -- check to be sure they are.

Once those items are done.. you shold be able to get them to work (most of the time).
