Absolutely. If we demand a government that we want to solve every aspect of our lives then they will be in every part of our lives. Beyond the military and the post office most everything else should be in the hands of local government. People who want an almighty Federal government do so becaue they think it gives them power. Obviously the Federal government is not in touch with the average person's view and certainly the national political parties are not. The Dem National Committee disdains every state that voted for Bush last election and refer to them as "red" states and equates that with ignorance. Unfortunately that includes many states that are overwhelmingly Democratic in their state and local governments. If you want big government you will lose more control the larger it gets and decision making will be further away. The US was not founded on a Federalist system.

Very much agree. But a government should be working for the people, not trying to take from them. Only in a dream world though.
