It can help for women who have little or hostile cervical mucus. It thins the mucus out--it doesn't produce more, just helps thin out what you have. And sperm must have good fertile quailty cervical mucus to swim through in order to survive. Go here for more info--

Just be careful that you get the right kind of cough syrup, the wrong kind will actually keep you from getting pregnant.

Robitussin has Guefinessin in it, which helps produce more mucous while having intercousre. It is only going to help with replacing oil based lubricants, nothing more.
It helps a great deal if you produce low mucous. Store bought lubricants make it more difficult for sperm to make it to the uterus. Some lubricants even have spermicides in them.
If you have low mucous production, keep using robitussin...If not, it will do no good. Good luck & God bless.

My friend and her husband went to a fertility doctor about one month ago because they have been having problems getting pregnant.
The tests performed on her husband showed that he had "thick sperm". He was told to take robitussin twice daily because this will loosen up and thin out his sperm.
They still haven't gotten pregnant, but anything's worth a shot, right.?? Have your boyfriend/husband take some over the counter Robitussin.

No over-the-counter cough syrup, or any medicine for that fact, will aid fertility. I can hardly believe some of the things people believe. My advice, seek out a fertility specialist, but caution, most insurance carriers will not cover that expense so check with your insurance first. No one here can tell you why you're not getting pregnant. If you've been trying for that many years, something is wrong, but it could be something easily fixed.

guaifenesin..the generic equivalent to Robitussin...is just a natural lubricant without any side effects for people who are trying to get pregnant. it aids in sperm mobility in the female and reduces sperm viscosity with the male. it can work i suppose if that's the reason for your not getting pregnant. if it's been more than 6 months you may want to go see your doctor...there may be other issues.

Try Geritol, it's a multivitamin for the elderly, but my mom and my sister have used it and conceived. Doctors told my mom she would never conceive and told my sister it would be difficult. My mom obviously had 2 and my sister is almost 7 weeks with her 2nd
