I have been a photographer for years. I have used many different aspects to pisture the human form in
my works. I have many quite inspiring pics that I took of people in various stages of dress and undress. Some people think that my work is Porn.
I do not show my work to anyone online and I don't publish either. How do you feel about nudes in art and what it means to you and when does it become porn? I do have some striking poses of men and women in love showing their intermost feelins for each other.

It's all in the interpretation, but then look at our modern culture, a far cry from what was Da Vince's had in mind as to what hollywood media portrays, it could hardly be called the renaissance, not to mention that lady probably never been to the NY museum of art, and what there passing off as art today could easily be categorized as toxic waist, america isn't what one might call old world art savy . . . Ex: Jesus, hangin upside down in a jar of urin, talk about porn . . .

Like everything else, you have to look at the intention.

If the image of a nude is made to stimulate a sexual response, then it is porn.

If the image of a nude is to show off the beauty or wonderment of the human body, then it is considered fine art.

Many poses are easy to determine what the intention is, a few fall into a gray area. Usually, the intention of the artist (or pornographer) comes through in the image.

As for myself, I believe the human body is a thing of beauty and have drawn many nudes in my life. I have also posed before for artists. And I have visited many nudist resorts. Most, if not all, fine artist and nudists, share the same viewpoints.

The RC Church says this:

2354 Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world. It is a grave offense. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials.

I have been in love with a man who was addicted to porno (which snowballed into harsher stuff) ... and as such am repulsed more than most people at pornography. Seeing the Church's definition of it ... well I agree. I believe that I should not be ashamed of my body or that of a man's body ... but when the image is used to objectivity for profit ... well, I got burnt and it SUCKS!!!

When I was in Italy, Greece, and Turkey ... the naked statues, photographs, and "Soft -porno" on public television didn't offend me like the stuff like "Debbie does Dallas" and other stuff that I've unfortunatly been exposed to.

I don't think its porn at all. People are just too uptight! I think nude pictures of men and women embracing are beautiful. I think its a state of mind. If someone is insecure with themselves - then they'd probably view it as porn.
