go to the hardware store and tell them you need a small drill bit for glass and usually the people working there are very helpful and will show you exactly what you need and how to do it.

Small glass objects and small holes are normally drilled with small diamond encrusted bits that are sold in sets at most hardware stores and are intended to be used in high speed heads like Dremel. Always work the glass in a container with a shallow lake of water to catch the silicon dioxide powder being ground off and to cool the glass to keep it from cracking.
You can also buy similiar bits from places like CR Laurence (www.crl.com) and Somaca (www.somaca.com) which supply the glass industry.

They sell a special drill bit for glass. Call around to glass shops. The idea is to do it very slowly and not to apply much pressure.

You can buy diamond drill bits to use in a Dremel or a regular drill as well. You'll need to continually flood the area with water while you're drilling, it will go much faster.
