Previous versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems did not include MS Office or any of the MS Office components. The vendor who sold you your PC may have bundled the application but the operating system itself does not include it.

It is not against the law for an OEM to enter in to an agreement with Microsoft to bundle all or part of the MS Office system (or other programs) with the computer. This is not saying that Windows came with the Office components, it is that the computer came equipped with Office standard and Windows both installed on the computer. You paid for that, the prices was also bundled. The OEM most likely spent far less for the Office Suite than you could purchase it for. Microsoft releases OEM versions of many programs (including Windows) which if all the conditions are met a dealer can purchase and sell with a new computer system.
Back in the day I would bundle Microsoft Office with some of my systems because the cost was minimal to me and saved my customers money.
I will say this, in my opinion; one should NEVER buy a computer based upon the bundle of software it comes with. Buy the computer for the need you have and add the software you need. Most users of commercial software who do not pirate it spend far more on software than on the computer it is run on.
Now, having said that, keep in mind that Open Office is a free Open Source suite of application that can be installed across platforms and will work well with MS Office programs and users. Open Source software is the bomb, well some of it.
Here is the link to get Open Office...

Anyone who tells you to go to a site and download Microsoft Office for free is wrong; it is not a free product.
You may get away with breaking the law (stealing) at the site suggested but just because you did not pay for it does not make it free software. If you get caught you will pay far more for the software, if you are a business entity this practice will put you out of business. Stealing is stealing no matter how anonymous you may feel in the process, you are a thief when you steal software. If you steal a car is it free?

Actually the other version did not come with Word or Excel. Companies bundled software application to get people to purchase newer version of the Windows OS. Vista is new and the people that will move to it quickly are those that really want Vista and Microsoft know this so to start with they will not offer special bundles. I n a year or so time they will start to include bundle to tempt the later adopters into Vista. - So the moral of the story is to wait a bit and MS will tempt you with goodies at a later date.
Hope this sounds plausible.

Most retail computers only come with a 60 day trail version of office 2007. This has been the case for many years.
However because most computers come with microsoft works 7.0 you qualify for an upgrade version of the office program which typically sells for around $239. or if you are a student or a teacher you qualify for the student teacher upgrade which typically sells for $149. Both version can be purchased at best buy or any major retail location.

I don't remember any versions of Windows including Word or Excel. Sometimes computer companies like Dell include an MS Office Trial Version with their computers.

Word or Excel never in history came bundled with ur windows operating system. They were part of Microsoft Office Suite of Softwre. So if u did not get them with vista, do not crib. Just get a CD of Microsoft Office and install it on ur system.

in simple terms offered a notebook from Woolworths 2 days in the past and that i had to pay one extra £ninety 9.ninety 9 for Microsoft place of work domicile & scholar from Argos. so some distance as i will see till the seller is offering it as a definite furnish then you definately would desire to purchase place of work seperately. in simple terms had a look into my Microsoft Works folder and all it has is .dll information.

Ah, Windows XP doesn't come with word or excel either. Horrible, I know. Go to freeware.com and download it all for free.

Or use the above link to find specific programs for free.
