Why can some people do the crime but not the time? For example the Latest person, Paris. She was driving drunk and on a suspended license. First it was 45 days, put on hold due to overcrowded jails. Now it is down to 25 days. Woopie, just slap her on her hand and let her go. If the average person did this we would be in jail, overcrowded, or not.
I don't think just because she and others have money they should get off with a slap on the hand. Just watch if she is not careful next she will drive drunk and get either herself or someone else killed.

The some who seem to get it so easy are the celebrities. They get the outrageous salaries for just acting/singing/modeling, they get goodie bags worth an average person's annual salary for just announcing at an event, and they get special treatment from the legal system.

As a country we need to get our priorities right and stop putting these people on pedestals. Only when the public indicates that they no longer care about these people, will they be treated like the rest of us. Of course that means not purchasing magazines or newspapers that promote the celebs, not buying their wares, not flocking for autographs. That just won't happen.

It is true that, in America, if you pay for the best lawyers, you get the best treatment oftentimes. However, Paris is not an example of that (as this would likely happen to just about anyone -- all the time petty offenders get suspended sentences, or longer probation, or other sorts of punishment in lieu of jail) . Her situation is an example of how overobscessed we are with incarceration. We put these completely nonviolent offenders away for short, medium, or even long terms, so there is simply not room for the rest of us. If the jail wasn't full of people serving 9 months for pot (or similar crimes) then perhaps Paris could have served her 45 days. Needless, is it really worth the Government's resources to put her in jail for a month or two? Not to make excuses... perhaps for her repeated disregard of lighter sentences, it might be. But it's a dialogue we may still engage in.

If she gets herself killed, well that one less stupid person in this world to deal with. If she kills someone else, she should be killed.
